Our research is all about basic science and its applications. The scientists and employees of IST Austria inform you about current research and recent scientific findings. There are three clusters for you to discover in an entertaining and challenging way.
- Creatures: evolution, sex and migrating brain cells Gehirnzellen
Our life scientists provide insight into their work: learn more about the forces of evolution and how research leads to an understanding of asexual species. The brain is puzzling: where is spatial orientation located in the brain? How does the complex network of nerve cells originate? These are just two questions which you can follow up on.
- Models: impossible shapes, God’s number 20 and the 6th dimension
Our mathematicians convey their work in a playful manner: examine the shapes of theoretical spaces or revolutionize data security. Solve questions that have kept mathematicians busy for centuries. Understand God’s algorithm, which provides a solution to Rubic’s Cube, and delve into the 6th dimension of mathematical calculations.
- Tech transfer: prototyping, start-ups and intellectural property
Our scientific service units demonstrate how to manage science: basic research means finding a new definition of our understanding of the world. In order to do so, experimental scientists need machines, devices and components that are developed in our workshop. Take a look at the requirements that need to be met so scientific insights can change society.
School competition – today’s ideas for the world of tomorrow
What ideas changed human life? What innovations facilitate everyday life, improve social life and keep our planet worth living? Take a look at the best ideas. The winners will be awarded at 13:00 in the Raiffeisen Lecture Hall. Later on, they will present their ideas in the foyer!
Open Museum Gugging
Be as creative as the artists in Gugging. Or participate in guided tour across the Museum Gugging. The museum wil be open from 13:00-18:00.
Guest exhibition Science2
How (long) are we going to live? Find answers to the question in international research project and in the maker workshop of the ScienceCenter-Netzwerk. Or put on the age suit of the Technischen Museum Wien and explore your environment. For families and kids more than 8 years of age.
Age suit of the Technischen Museum Wien: 12:00-17:00
Maker workshops at 12:30, 13:45, 15:00, 16:15 (number of participants is limited, registration on campus)
