- 13:00-13:45 Award Ceremony for school competition and birthday party
The winners of this year’s school competition “Let’s do some research! – We create future” look into the future of research. The award ceremony will be followed by Governor Johanna Mikl-Leitner cutting a birthday cake. - 14:00-14:45 Family Lecture: “Mikroskope: Winzige Körperzellen – ganz groß!”
We understand best what we see with our own eyes. But many interesting things are too small to be observed without devices: e.g. cells that form the buildings blocks of your body. Fortunately, there are microscopes that help magnify cells. With them, we have been able to observe the different cell types of our body for some centuries. We explain how that works and show you exciting images of cells. - 15:00-15:45 Science comedy with Vince Ebert: Best-of „Zukunft is the Future“
Future is a matter of opinion. Some people look into the future; the writer Mark Twain used to say: “Of course, I care about the future – I am planning on spending the rest of my life in the future” – other people are more careful about it, the soccer player Paul Gascoine stated: “I have never predicted anything and will never do that”. Vince Ebert will address this topic. - 16:00-16:45 Showdown research game
The best players and teams compete against each other in the finale of the research game. The winning team will be awarded a helicopter flight over Vienna and Lower Austria. Go to the research game page and find out how you can participate.
